NSS Visit to Dr. Thunga’s Manaswini Arkula Campus – 19th November 2024. A group of 50 NSS students from Nitte University (KSHEMA), Derlakatte, visited Dr. Thunga’s Manaswini Hospital Arkula campus on Tuesday, 19th November 2024, from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. The event was coordinated by Arjun Punja, Nitte University and Facility Manager, along with the university’s NSS officers. Program Highlights: Introduction to Mental Health and Psychiatry – Delivered by Dr. Aniruddha Shetty, highlighting the importance of mental well-being and the role of psychiatry in promoting it. Awareness on Substance Abuse and the Role of NSS as a Youth Organization – Presented by Mrs. Suman Pinto, focusing on the dangers of substance abuse and how NSS can actively engage in youth awareness programs. Rehabilitation and Community Mental Health Programs: Role of NGOs – Explained by Mrs. Shashikala B, emphasizing the importance of community support and NGO involvement in mental health rehabilitation. “Light A Life”: Youth’s Role – A motivational talk by Dr. Ravish Thunga, inspiring the students to take active roles in mental health and social welfare initiatives. Q&A Session: Students engaged in an interactive discussion, followed by concluding remarks by the speakers. The session was insightful and encouraged the NSS students to actively participate in promoting mental health awareness, combating substance abuse, and supporting rehabilitation efforts within the community.
